The Latino population in the United States has reached 28 million, making it one of the fastest growing ethnic groups in the U.S. The importance of being able to effectively communicate with this segment of the population in the medical arena has become increasingly paramount. However, the issue is not one solely of language but also of cultural sensitivity.
For this reason, CPI has designed two professional courses, the first, is a two week medical Spanish course with a post course option of volunteer work in a rural clinic. The second course is a special three week seminar for medical professionals which includes Spanish classes (focused on medicine) and direct contact with the medical community through six visits to local hospitals so that course participants may observe techniques and methods.
