We have a long history with Tabacon. In 1993, I escorted one of my first groups to Costa Rica. A Bromeliad group from our home base of New Orleans.

We had hired a private bus, and the driver recommended that we devote part of one of our Arenal days to Tabacon. The group was mostly interested in botany and gardens. But once they found Tabacon, they all started to negotiate a change to their itinerary. They didn’t want to leave!

I have been back many times with my family, and have coordinated groups of my personal friends traveling here. I still feel the same every time I visit. I don’t want to leave!

Over the years, Tabacon has morphed into a World Class Resort. The ever popular Hot Springs have expanded to accommodate more guests, without feeling crowded. There are lots of small pools for a more intimate feel, and of course the larger pools and waterfalls. In total, there are four bars, including a swim up bar in the main resort area. There are two restaurants. One in the resort, and one located on the hotel grounds. Tabacon recently added a special “Hotel Guests Only” adult section, Shangra La Gardens. This VIP area is tucked away in the springs to make our hotel guests feel even more special. This also features a uncrowded private bar.

The hotel restaurant (Los Tucanes Restaurant) is also noted for the lavish breakfast bar. This is included in the room rate. So don’t miss it! These 2530 square foot suites are ideal for families seeking more spacious accommodations, which include a dining and living room conceptualized so as to provide the ideal space for a truly memorable experience. Sleeping areas include a master bedroom with a king bed and terrace overlooking the impressive rainforest, and a second bedroom with two full beds. A beautifully appointed master bathroom features an in-room Jacuzzi and separate glass-enclosed shower. A second lavatory plus a spacious walk-in closet add to the suite’s privacy and style.
